Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled (125g)
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (25g)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten, at room temperature
- 1 cup buttermilk, at room temperature (240ml)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (28g)
- Cooking spray
Instructions
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, buttermilk, and melted butter until combined.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and whisk just until combined.
Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
Prepare parchment paper for the air fryer basket by cutting it into the size of the air fryer basket. Once preheated, place a paper-lined 7-inch pan inside the air fryer basket and scoop ¼ of the pancake batter on the baking paper and spread evenly.
Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until small bubbles form on the surface and the tops are set. Flip the pancakes over and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown.
Remove the pancake from the air fryer and repeat with the remaining batter.
Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.
Ingredients Substitutions
- Buttermilk: If you don't have buttermilk, you can make a quick substitute by adding 1 tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice to 1 cup of milk and letting it sit for 5 minutes until it curdles.
- Baking Powder and Baking Soda: If you don't have baking powder, you can substitute it with ¼ teaspoon of baking soda and ½ teaspoon of cream of tartar. If you don't have baking soda, you can substitute it with 1 ½ teaspoons of baking powder.
Top Tips for Success
- Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter can result in tough and dense pancakes. Mix the batter until the ingredients are just combined.
- Preheat your air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to ensure that it's hot enough to cook the pancakes evenly.
- Use parchment paper: Use parchment paper to line the pan before cooking the pancakes. This will make it easier to remove the pancakes and prevent them from sticking to the pan.
- Flip the pancakes carefully: Use a thin spatula or turner to flip the pancakes carefully to avoid breaking them
