  • Motability Scheme Highlights For Quarter 1 2024

    Supply chain shortages that have hampered the automotive industry since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic have really started to ease, with many new cars now arriving with customers far faster than they were just a few months ago. In fact, some dealerships are now advertising cars that can be handed over to Motability customers in a matter of weeks.

    As the supply of new vehicles continues to improve, we've seen the number of different models available to order through the Scheme grow and the Advance Payment price of many popular models fall, especially EVs.

    Vehicles that are back on or new to the Motability Scheme at the start of this quarter include the following models:

    • BMW 3 Series Saloon PHEV (£7999 Advance Payment)
    • BMW 3 Series Touring PHEV (£7999 Advance Payment)
    • Fiat 600e (£1495 Advance Payment)
    • Honda ZR-V (From £899 Advance Payment)

    Vehicles that are no longer available include the Kia Ceed, the Kia ProCeed, the Lexus UX250h, the Mini Electric, the Peugeot Rifter, the SEAT Tarraco, the Volkswagen T-Cross and the entire SsangYong range.

  • Popular Motability Car Deals For January 2024

    We put this guide together at the start of January 2024. Remember vehicles can be added and removed by car manufacturers at any point during the quarter.

    ALFA ROMEO - If you like the look of the Alfa RomeoTonale there's now two trim levels available to order, priced from £2999 Advance Payment (was £3999). Plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions have also been introduced, which start at £7599!

    AUDI – This month the Audi A1 range starts at £999, up from £499. The Audi A3 range begins at £1799 Advance Payment, with the A3 TFSI e with the plug-in hybrid engine sadly removed. The electric Audi Q4 is better value at £3999 (down from £4499) for the new Q4 210kW 45 82kWh 'Sport' 5dr automatic, which gets the improved '45' powertrain.

    BMW –BMW1 Series is unchanged at £2699 Advance Payment for both the petrol 118i 'M Sport' and the diesel 116D 'M Sport’ (manual or automatic). The 2 Series Gran Coupe is £3999 for the 'M Sport' trim, while the 2 Series Active Tourer MPV PHEV now starts at £5499 Advance Payment. The electric BMW i4 eDrive35 'Sport' automatic is now £5499, with 'M Sport' versions added from £500 more. The iX1 SUV - introduced part way through the previous quarter - is still available, and more options and trims have been added, including all-wheel drive 'xDrive' versions.

    BYD - The BYD Atto 3 'Comfort' automatic trim has been added, but you may as well choose the better BYD Atto 3 'Design' automatic, which is also £0 Advance Payment. The 'Design' trim adds a larger touchscreen, electric tailgate and an air purification system. The smaller BYD Dolphin range is unchanged.

    CITROEN – The electric Citroen e-C4 is now £0 Advance Payment for the 'E Series' trim, while prices for the internal combustion engine (ICE) versions of the Citroen C4 also start at £0. The electric e-C4 X ‘E Series’ is also £0 Advance Payment. There are six Citroen C5 Aircross models to choose from this quarter, beginning at £1095 for the C5 Puretech 'Plus'. The C5 X starts at £2995 for the new 'You' trim. The electric e-Berlingo ‘Flair XTR’ is now priced at £495 (down from £999), while the seven-seat version is now £1495. ICE versions can also be ordered from £1395. The electric nine-seat e-SpaceTourer Business is unchanged at £6695 Advance Payment.

    CUPRA - Cupra joined the Motability Scheme during quarter 2 2023 with the addition of the electric Born 'V1' trim. This model is now even better value, priced at £0 (down from £499), with the 'V2' and 'V3' versions now available from £795 and £1495 respectively. The Cupra Formentor range starts from £2395 Advance Payment, while the Cupra Leon (Hatch and Estate) begin at £2545 and £2745 respectively. The Cupra Ateca SUV starts from £2495 Motability Advance Payment.

    DACIA – This month there are five Dacia Sandero Stepway models available, priced from £0 Advance Payment. These include 'Bi-Fuel' models that are powered by a combination of petrol and LPG. The larger Dacia Duster range starts at £895 (down from £995), while prices for the 7 seat Dacia Jogger range have improved, with models available to order from £0 Advance Payment. Full Hybrid versions begin at £695, down from £1495.

    DS AUTOMOBILES – The DS 4 and DS 7 SUV are both still available, priced from £3999.

    FIAT – The new electric Fiat 600e has been added this month, with the top spec 'La Prima' priced at £1495. Hybrid versions of the Fiat 500 still start at £0 Advance Payment, as do the full electric versions.

    FORD - Prices for the Ford Fiesta still start at £0 Advance Payment this month. The Ford Puma range looks the same, with prices starting at £195 for the 'Titanium' trim. Automatic versions begin at £1095. The Puma 'ST-Line Vignale' - which boasts great comfort features like a heated steering wheel plus heated and massaging seats for the driver and passenger - is still £895. The performance 'ST' trim is £2695. The Ford Focus range starts at £945 for the 'ST Line X' hatch. Advance Payment prices for the Ford Kuga SUV have improved, beginning at £1795 for the ‘Titanium Edition’. Plug-in Hybrid Kuga models now start at £3995. The electric Ford Mustang Mach-E is back this month, priced from £4745 Advance Payment.

    GWM ORA - The electric GWM ORA Funky Cat 'First Edition' can still be ordered with nothing to pay upfront.

    HONDA – Honda have added the Civic-based ZR-V this quarter. It's £899 Advance Payment for the 2.0 eHEV 'Sport' automatic trim, or £1499 for the top 'Advance' version. The Honda HR-V 'Elegance' Hybrid automatic is down to £699 (was £999), while the electric Honda E is much better value, with the 'Advance' model down from £999 to £0 Advance Payment. The larger electric e:Ny1 range starts from £999.The popular Honda Jazz is still relatively expensive, with the ‘Advance’ trim priced at £1899.

    The Honda ZR-V has joined the scheme this quarter, priced at £899 Advance Payment for the 2.0 eHEV 'Sport' automatic trim, or it's £1499 for the top 'Advance' version.

  • HYUNDAI – The electric IONIQ 5 is priced from £1999 Advance Payment (down from £6599), with the new 'Namsan' Edition' added at £5999. The IONIQ 6 'Premium' is now £2849, down from £2999. Hyundai i20 and Bayon models can still be leased with nothing to pay upfront. The top-spec Bayon 'Ultimate' 1.0 TGDi MHEV automatic can still be ordered with £199 Advance Payment. The sporty i20 'N Line' automatic is lower at £49 Advance Payment. Hyundai Tucson SUV prices have decreased. The base ‘SE Connect’ is now £799 Advance Payment, while the Hyundai Tucson 'Premium' PHEV is now £4999. The all-new Hyundai Kona starts at £99 for the electric 'Advance' trim.

    JEEP– The electric Jeep Avenger 'Summit' is now priced at £0 Advance Payment (was £999). The petrol-powered 'Altitute+' version is also available with nothing to pay upfront.

    KIA – The entire Picanto line-up can be ordered with no upfront Advance Payment, plus they all cost less than the full Mobility Allowance (so you'd get some money back). Kia Sportage prices start at a very competitive £399, with 'GT Line' models available from £695. Electric KIA EV6 prices have dropped by £2,000, with the range now starting at £3,995. The electric Kia Niro is also better value, with the Niro EV '2' down to £349 Advance Payment.

    LEXUS – The electric Lexus UX300e (with an advertised 280-mile EV range) is £1000 cheaper, priced at £995 Advance Payment for the entry model. TheLexus UX 250h 'F-Sport Design' can't currently be ordered.

    MAZDA – The Mazda CX-5 range kicks off with the CX-5 2.0 e-Skyactiv G MHEV ‘Centre Line’ trim at £2799 Advance Payment, while the larger CX-60 range begins at £6795 (up from £5995). The electric MX-30 'Prime Line' trim is still £0 Advance Payment, with the recently introduced MX-30 R-EV had been removed. The Mazda2 and Mazda3 start from £99 and £999 respectively.

    MG MOTORS - The MG4 EV is still great value this quarter. The 'SE' standard range is £0 Advance Payment, the 'SE' Long Range is £49 and the top-spec 'Trophy' long range is £649 (was £799). The 5 door MG 3 Exclusive is still £0 Advance Payment, while the MG ZS range starts from £0 (was £199) for the ZS 1.5 VTi 'Excite', and it's also £0 for the electric MG ZS EV 'SE'. The larger MG HS starts at £0. The 'SE' automatic trim is £349, while the top-spec 'Trophy' automatic is unchanged at £699 Advance Payment. The electric MG 5 EV is much better value this month, priced at £499 Advance Payment (was £999).

    MERCEDES BENZ – There are still no Motability cars available from Mercedes-Benz. The German manufacturer removed all their cars from the Motability Scheme in 2021 because of the long waiting times for their vehicles, but are thought to be returning very soon.

    MINI – 3-door and 5-door petrol-powered Mini models both start at £0 Advance Payment, with the 5-door Mini 'Cooper Exclusive Premium' automatic now £499. The Mini Convertible now starts at £999 (down from £1299) and the new 2024 Countryman has been introduced, priced from from £1449. The Mini Electric can't currently be ordered.

    NISSAN – Juke models start at £0 Advance Payment for the DIG-T 114 'Acenta' manual. The automatic version is still £299. The popular Juke Hybrid 'N-Connecta' automatic has been reduced again, down to £899 (was £1199). In total there are now nine Nissan Qashqai models available to order. Prices start at £399 Advance Payment for the ‘Acenta Premium' trim, down from £849. The Qashqai 'N-Connecta' manual is now £999. Qashqai E-Power Hybrid models now start from £1449 (down by £550). Nissan X-Trail models now start at £2499 for the X-Trail ‘Acenta Premium’ automatic, or it's £2999 if you want a seven-seat version. The electric 5 door Leaf can still be ordered with £0 Advance Payment, and longer range 59kWh versions have now been added (with up to a 239 mile driving range). The larger ARIYA range now starts at £1999, £500 lower than last quarter.

    The electric Jeep Avenger 'Summit' and the petrol-powered 'Altitute+' are both priced at £0 Advance Payment this quarter

  • PEUGEOT –The Peugeot 2008 electric starts from £0 Advance Payment for the 'Allure' or the 'GT' trim ('GT' is down from £499). Petrol-powered 2008 models start at £99 for the popular ‘GT’ automatic. More 308 trims have been added, with the 308 'GT' petrol and diesel automatics competitively priced at £1299 Advance Payment. PHEVs have also been added. The larger 3008 range begins at £999 Advance Payment (down from £1499), while the 7-seat 5008 can be ordered from £3149 (was £3249). The new Peugeot 408 range still starts at £1899 Advance Payment. The electric 8-seat Peugeot Traveller range has dropped dramatically to £1999, down from £7399.

    RENAULT –There are six models available to order through Motability from the French carmaker this quarter. The electric Renault Megane E-Tech is great value again this month, with the ‘Techno+' optimum charge down from £495 to £195 Advance Payment. Renault Clio full hybrid models start with the 'Evolution' trim at £0 Advance Payment, while Renault Captur full hybrid versions are priced from £95. The larger Renault Arkana range starts at £795 for the E-Tech full hybrid 'Evolution', while the recently introduced Austral SUV 'Techno' has come down in price by £1000.

    SEAT– There are twelve SEAT Ateca models to choose from this month, and you can now order the Ateca 1.5 TSi 'Xperience’ automatic for £295 Advance Payment, down from £595 last quarter. The smaller SEAT Arona starts at £0, and the 1.0 TSi 'FR Sport' DSG automatic looks great value at £0 (down from £45). It's great to see the SEAT Leon return, and the range starts with the 'FR' at £445 Advance Payment.

    SKODA – The electric Skoda Enyaq 62kWh now starts from £0 Advance Payment (was £999) with the Enyaq Coupe range beginning at £1999. The KAMIQ and Fabia can both be ordered with nothing to pay upfront, while the seven-seat KODIAQ is £3299 for the 1.5 TSI SE L Executive DSG. Prices for the smaller Skoda KAROQ now begin at £1399, and the popular ‘Sportline’ models begin at £3199.

    SSANGYONG – SsangYong models have all been removed from the Motability Scheme car list.

    SUZUKI –TheSuzuki Vitara SZ-T is still priced at £0 Advance Payment, and automatic Vitara models can be ordered again. S-Cross prices have improved slightly, with six models starting from £0. The Suzuki Swace estate is back, with the ‘Motion’ trim £999, or it’s £1999 for the ‘Ultra’ version. Both have an automatic gearbox as standard. The Swift has also made a comeback, with two models priced at £0 Advance Payment. The Suzuki Across PHEV SUV remains £5299.

    TOYOTA – This quarter Toyota have reduced the price of the Yaris Cross, which means models now start at £995. The standard Yaris range is back, and begins at £0. The all-electric bZ4X is much better value, and now starts at £495 Advance Payment (down from £995). The Toyota RAV 4 and new C-HR cannot be ordered at this time.

    VAUXHALL –The Vauxhall Corsa Electric now starts at a whopping £2249! If you'd prefer a petrol-powered Vauxhall Corsa, the one to go for is the 1.2 Turbo 'Ultimate' automatic, priced at £0 Advance Payment. There are just two Vauxhall Crossland models this quarter, with the 'Ultimate' automatic now available for £349 Advance Payment (up from £0). Prices for some Vauxhall Astras have come down again, with Advance Payments starting at £0 (was £149). The Astra 'GS' 130PS automatic is £599 Advance Payment. It's now £849 for the lowest-priced Astra Sports Tourer estate, down from £999. The Vauxhall Mokka is great value again this month, with petrol and electric versions starting at £0 Advance Payment. The Vauxhall Grandland SUV range now begins at £399 for the 'Ultimate' manual trim, with the automatic up £100 to £1099. The Combo Life Electric and Vivaro Life Electric are better value, priced from £3349 and £3949 respectively.

    VOLKSWAGEN – The recently updated electric Volkswagen ID.3 range starts at £0 Advance Payment this month (down from £2099), while the larger ID.4 begins at £999. The Volkswagen ID.5 returns, priced at £2995. Volkswagen Polo prices have come down, with the range starting at £149, although the Polo GTI DSG automatic is slightly higher at £2599. Taigo prices have also decreased, with the 1.0 TSi 95 'Life' now £199 (down from £549). Volkswagen T-ROC prices are also down slightly, with the range now beginning at £799 (down from £899). The base VW Golf 1.0 TSi 110PS 'Life' trim is now £299 (was £0). If you need seven seats, the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace 'Life' SUV is now £3199 (or £3399 for the automatic). Tiguan Allspace ‘Elegance’ and ‘R-Line’ trims have been added. The Caddy Maxi Life and 5 seat Tiguan have not returned (a refreshed Tiguan is due to be released shortly).

    VOLVO – Volvo car prices have come down. The XC40 range now starts at £1499 (was £1999), while the sole C40 model has dropped from £3999 to £1999 Advance Payment. The electric EX30 lineup hasn't changed, and starts at £2349.

  • When Do Motability Change Their Prices?

    The Motability car price list is updated every three months and it includes a 'Price Guarantee', which means the Advance Payment price of the car at the time you place your order is the price you'll pay to the dealer, even if it goes up before your handover date.

    The new Advance Payment prices for Motability cars are released on:

    • 1st January
    • 1st April
    • 1st July
    • 1st October

    It normally takes the car manufacturers and their dealers a few days to update the new Motability prices on their own websites.
