Brian just had to buzz in on DJ30 and get it right. Fortunately, it did not matter as Dave would have lost from the lead.
Jilana just had to save $100 on DD3. That would have been a hoot if she had lost in a scenario when Dave leads for the FJ! Round 11600 to 11500 and solves the FJ! clue. Instead Jilana had the "sole solve" and it did not matter.
Brian botched the correct title and finished with zero instead of 10400. It did not matter as Dave only dropped to 10800 anyway.
I like the FJ! clue as someone blindly guessing a Steinbeck work won't be enough and there was another level to getting the solve. Those were dot I knew how to connect to match Jilana.
Bring on the finals.

Sadly, I didn't even blindly guess a Steinbeck work...I blindly guessed a Woody Guthrie work.

Pick the one that the title "The Grapes of Wrath" comes from.

Probably +2 for me. Connecting the song to the title of a Steinbeck book never occurred to me.

I knew the book right away but it took a bit to remember the name of the song. A little tough since the title doesn’t appear in the lyrics. But I got it written down in time. Not something you want to suddenly pull at the 27 second mark.
Glad Brian’s error didn’t cost him anything. Jilana’s wagering could have cost her a lot.

Coryat: $39,200
49 R/3 W
DD: 3/3
FJ:
LT: Bonnie Prince Charlie (DD), oxidized, "Me and Bobby McGee," zoologic, Johannes Kepler, Pegasus (DD), arches, tallit
SPOILER ALERT!
Spoiler
It was Brian. He was the spoiler.
I've gone on record here as being perfectly fine with someone in a late-game, all-or-nothing situation reserving $1 or $100 or whatever to guarantee a spot in FJ! DD2 with 20 clues left to play in a relatively close game is not that time.

Mine eyes have seen the coming of the glory of the Lord
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored
He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible, swift sword
His truth is marching on
Sprinkles are for winners.

It would have really bitten her in the butt if Dave had gotten DJ30 and then gotten FJ right. But you routinely see people not bet $1,000 when they hit DD1 early in the game.
