The players were lacking with house knowledge as the Jane Addams clue and the Pyncheon place stumped them.
Perhaps opusthepenguin will run a poll on the CLASSIC COMIC STRIPS category?
Patrick will get reminders of his missed DD3 that cost him the match throughout his life. It could be more thinking time would not have helped though on a DD the opportunity is there to ponder it a bit instead of instantly waving the white flag.
The FJ! clue is the kind I like when it's a sports movie in disguise more than FAMOUS NAMES.
Ed was a 2x winner and 2/2 on wagering clues today while Kate went 0/2 and Patrick went 1/2.

The writers returned to work in early October, and they said they were going to make small changes to these games to add current events.
This is one of those cases.

I knew where the FJ was pointing but I blanked on the name and had to pause - took me at least another 10 seconds before the name (Secretariat? No...Sugar Cookie?...oh, Seabiscuit!...) popped in... Another movie I've contentedly never seen...

I can’t stop chuckling at the thought of a human fathering 100 by age 14!
Because of such I’ll skip the wagering commentary tonight.

This pretty much mimics my thought process, until I put together what 2003 film was about an animal that had lived in the first half of the 20th century. I’m embarrassed to admit I very briefly thought it could have been some child king but realized quickly a human could nor father 100 children by age 14 nor would someone that age die of a heart attack

I was totally on the wrong track and thought Benjamin Button. (Turns out that was a 2008 movie...)
The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.
Latest movies (1-10): Europa Europa (7), Tampopo (9), Baby Doll (6), First Love /2019/ (8)

Coryat: $43,800
51 R/2 W
DD: 1/3
FJ:
LT: Hull House, Pogo, Pope John Paul I, couscous (DD), corn
A hundred kids by age 14? What a stud.
One-third of American workers have found love...at work. Ed seemed to recoil a bit at the clunkiness of the clue's construction.
It was easy enough since they're by far the biggest double talk band of the '80s(sorry The The and Talk Talk), but showing Duran Duran as a quartet was confusing.
Kate wagered to cover an unlikely zero bet by Patrick and in so doing risked an entirely preventable tiebreaker against Ed.

Congratulations on a wily post.

Am I missing something? Kate's wager left her $1000 below what Ed would have dropped to on a miss from his completely predictable shutout bet. There was no risk of a tiebreaker. She should have wagered no more than $200, no?
