Guessed it from the category, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Glad to see it's a triple get.

Originally playing:
Long lost in Stephen Webb #6
Kat 1x in Ben C. #1
Nicole 1x
Long opened with 6 in row with DD1 on the opening call followed by running the poker category.
50 GREATEST RAPPERS OF ALL TIME played clues 24-29 but the players did not sniff anything like football viralness.
Kat did enough on DD3 with 18600+7000 to go past Long at 23600 to make it hold up.
The FJ! clue looked liked insta-solve x 3 and certainly it appeared Kat had it to leave no suspense for the outcome.
Snap solve for me since I had the right name on my short list after the category reveal.
Quite a duel in the game and a shame that had to happen in the QF round. Now, I expect tomorrow to fall far short of 41,600 combined Coryat.

This game is a draw for the Intermediate Form of Shore's Conjecture. The second-place player bet "small." --Bob

We welcome Doyle Brunson to the J-Canon. The other 3 Archive hits on "Brunson" are all Quinta.
I know Chris Moneymaker has been a clue, but are there any other famous poker players who have been asked about?
ETA: Annie Duke has 2 hits.

Kat’s cover wager takes her down to 3199 on a miss with Nicole at 3000. So does Nicole make a wager that can reasonably win the game? What is no.
But a good wager from 2nd place.
Got VWLSS $2k solely from the movie Eurotrip where Jamie’s model could use a good cleaning from the hot camera girl.

I was hoping my state would get some love in FJ but doubted they’d double dip after the Bankheads were mentioned but it was an instaget anyway. Got a chuckle from Long getting to write his name. Too bad for him he didn’t go to the poker category first before he started DD hunting.

It was nice that the Polgar sisters were mentioned in the chess clue, but I wish the Muzychuk sisters could get mentioned, too.

I'm sorry to see Long make an early departure from this tournament, but I'm glad it played out the way it did. It would have been a bummer to see him get taken out by a big TDD as in his regular game, or a triple stumper FJ from a narrow lead, or to see him just fizzle out. It was hard fought, and he was simply outplayed by someone who didn't neg and did what needed to be done with DD3.

Huey Long. Strom Thurmond, and George Wallace would have been my list for most likely.

But not Estes Kefauver or Lester Maddox?

One mention of Phil Ivey in a clue, none for Phil Hellmuth. 2 for Amarillo Slim, (I expected more) none for Johnny Moss. 2 mentions of Phil Laak, one about his style and one his famous girlfriend. That's all I can find from the most obvious candidates.
*edit* A friend found Nick the Greek, a pre-WSOP guy I wasn't very familiar with, mentioned once.

A silly thought I just had: if Long had won this game, and then his semi and the final (or if the Second Chance to ToC pipeline hadn't been disestablished), then Ryan Long would be the first ToCer whose last name was another ToCer's first name and vice versa.
